“Perception, Fuckers” 8/22/08
This was the first Garbage painting I ever made, technically. (It has no paint on it) It was made out of wanting to give a friend of mine a gift, but my printer had ran out of ink. These later turned into the Vessels photoshop project. I’m having a hard time believing I’ve never posted this before.
I’ve been in a bit of a slump with my photoshop work lately. Just feeling a bit un-inspired. So, I believe I’m going to go back to painting. At least for a while, and I’m going to do something I’ve wrestled with for quite a while. I’m going to sell them. Well, barter with them.
I want to try a bit of a project. I’ll post a painting, and then you can offer me whatever you want for it. A pen, a brand new house, or you know, money works too. The best offer gets the painting. I’ll try and get a new one done within the week. What do you think?
“Better Things are Coming”
I decided recently that I wanted to stop using Deviantart for my resource photos, and instead contact some photographers I’ve met via Tumblr, and elsewhere. The first person I thought of was Mr. Ian Broyles, I’ve been a big fan for a while now, and his work has inspired me in the past, so I contacted him about using his photos for my paintings, and he graciously accepted. This is the product of this collaboration. I think I’m gonna’ stick with this method in the future.
“Stubborn, and Prideful.”
This still needs to be framed properly. It’s all done in ink, except for a bit of black acrylic.
“Roma”
My first garbage painting in quite a while! It still needs some glass, but I like her. It’s been a while since I cut someone’s eyes out.. or, in this circumstance, poured melted crayons in them.
If anyone knows where the names from, you get bonus points.
”Get Yourself Back Home”
A good amount of the paint on the bottom of her hair was created by folding the whole thing in half, and getting the same effect as a ink blot. The red splotchy effect was created using a spray bottle full of one part paint, one part water. She looks a little bit like a indian from the future. She’s come for your corn.
“Animal Magnetism or I send crickets to steal your stuff.”
This one was super hard to get a picture of for some reason. Probably the glass combined with the amount of black in the picture. But, I really like how it turned out. It’s also the same size as “Stormbringer” and “Katrina. It was also heavily inspired by Metric.
“Veronika: Plaguebringer”
I know, I know. I need to step away from the neons. But, I can’t help it. Bright and colorful has kind of been my thing lately, and I plan to keep it up. Me and Julie had a little paint-fest last night, and she was born. I think it was probably inspired by the absurd amounts of Infamous (Spider Friends) I’ve been playing, and a good dose of sleep deprevation as well. A couple interesting notes. It has a similar style as Stormbringer, the painting that burned in the fire. (IE: The name) and it’s my first painting that glows in the dark! OoooooOoh!
